What's New About the 2024 Elantra?

The 2024 model Elantra gets a slight refresh to its exterior, with the rest of the body keeping the same look from the previous model year. However, the safety features get a big upgrade with side curtain airbags for passengers and drivers, as well as a rear seat seatbelt reminder.   • A 1.6-liter I-4 with a turbocharger that makes 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. It gets 28 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 32 mpg combined.

The hybrid engine pairs the 1.6-liter I-4 with an electric motor.

The gas engine can go from zero to 60 mph in 8.1 seconds, while the hybrid takes 8.4 seconds. If you want a faster car, you'll have to wait for the N sports trim level...that comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that lets you go from zero to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds.

The standard gas engine comes with an Intelligent Variable Transmission, while the hybrid engine is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic. Both engines are front-wheel drive.

Design and Specs

Hyundai gave the Elantra a new look for 2024 that gives it a sportier look. The hood is now lower and the headlights are more angular. The grille is also larger and has a cascading design. The windshield is more upright, which gives the car more headroom. The roofline slopes down to the short trunk lid, and the body panels have angular shapes that give the car an arrowhead appearance.

The interior has leather-like synthetic upholstery that makes it feel more expensive than it is. The driver's seat of the 2024 Elantra is in a cockpit-style position with a digital instrument display next to the infotainment display. Physical buttons for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and other controls let the driver make adjustments without taking their eyes off the road. A rising handle gives the passenger something to hold onto with their left hand while giving them access to the charging ports under the console.
